Arsenal have officially confirmed the rumours that have been rife since last week with head of recruitment Sven Mislintat set to leave next month.

It was first reported by Le Grove last Tuesday that the former Dortmund man would be leaving just over 12 months after arriving as part of a restructuring the club.

Nicknamed the ‘Diamond Eye’, Mistlintat was supposed to find us the gems in the market before they entered the fray in terms of the crazy bidding wars.

And, in his short stay, Mislintat delivered the likes of Dinos Mavropanos and Lucas Torreira, two players who’ve shown immense promise and are in their early 20s.

While reports suggested that an internal rift between Mislintat and head of football Raul Sanllehi was the reason behind his exit, the German scout release an amicable statement regarding his impending departure.

“It’s been an amazing experience to work at a great club like Arsenal in what has been a big time of change,” Mislintat said in a statement.

“I am excited about what the future holds for the club and am looking forward to new challenges for myself.”

His departure does represent somewhat of a blow, though I much prefer the option of parting ways if two senior officials are at loggerheads.

Arsenal had been said to be readying an appointment for a technical director role, and it seems the structure at the club will change once again.

Also, coincidently, two of the three-man committee that agreed on the appointment of Unai Emery have jumped ship before his first season is even over.

We’re in a mess off the pitch.
