Arsenal chairman Sir Chips Keswick refuses to clarify Wenger’s future…
Arsenal chairman Sir Chips Keswick caught up with SkySportsNewsHQ on Thursday and refused to make a comment as he was quizzed about the future of Arsene Wenger.
Keswick released a statement earlier this month clarifying the board’s position in what will be a huge decision, though the wording of the press release did little to achieve such an aim.
Wenger has been under continuous pressure since the club last made a comment and has since claimed that he’s made his mind up about his future.
However, given that Keswick claimed that any decision will be made “mutually”, he was asked where the board stood in such troubling times.
“I never make press statements,” Keswick told Bryan Swanson after he was asked about Wenger’s future.
“You know that, I’m not about to start now.”
When pressed about what he thought of Arsenal’s performances on the pitch in general, he replied: “
“It started well, but it’s become rather disappointing – you watch football.”
Keswick’s uncomfortable demeanour resembles a man who literally has no clue how to go about making a decision and sums up what we’re left with on the board.
After Peter Hill-Wood’s departure, the club had the opportunity to make a fresh appointment; they opted to go for a familiar face instead.
Keswick has previously revealed that the board never disagrees with Wenger, so it’s very hard to see them show him the exit door should his performances warrant such an action.
