Nacho Monreal says defeat at Bournemouth isn’t an option…

Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal said defeat against Bournemouth on Saturday would represent a disaster for the team following a poor start.

Monreal believes that a title challenge is currently on the team’s mind, with the focus only on getting back to winning ways after back-to-back defeats.

The defeat at Stoke was brushed as a one-off, with the team boasting 77% possession and missing a plethora of chances to take the three points.

However, with a chance to put things right at Liverpool, we failed to turn up with a performance.

“Win this game, get the three points and keep looking forward. Obviously, if we do not win, it will be a disaster for us,” Monreal said on Football Today.

“But I am completely confident that we are going to win this game because the players in the team are completely focused and obviously I hope we get the three points.”

Monreal is under fire himself given that we’ve conceded nine goals in our opening three games, with the newly formed back three struggling to defend.

The Spaniard was an ideal player to deploy on the left of a back three, but he was given an intense run around by Mo Salah at Anfield.

If we’re to get back on track, defending properly is the prerequisite.
