Granit Xhaka & Sokratis send words of encouragement to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang…
Arsenal duo Granit Xhaka and Sokratis took to social media to send some encouraging words to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after the striker missed a 90th-minute penalty which would’ve seen us take all three points in the north London derby.
Aubameyang, who bragged a brace in the derby at the Emirates in December, was introduced from the bench 20 minutes from time in place of Alexandre Lacazette.
The Frenchman didn’t cover himself in any glory either after squandering a number of missed opportunities which should’ve extended our lead.
However, after Aubameyang was bundled over by Davinson Sanchez in the 90th minute, we all hoped our record goalscorer would find the back of the net to send us a point behind the homeless side.
But it wasn’t to be with the Gabon star placing the spot-kick towards the same corner he did in December, but Hugo Lloris was equal to it this time.
“We win together, we lose together, we draw together – keep your head up Aubameyang bro, we all love you,” Xhaka wrote on his Instagram page.
He was followed by the man of the match Sokratis who echoed the sentiments about his long-time teammate.
“One of the best players and friends I have played with. Next week you gonna give us the win.”
Given that Aubameyang is yet to make a statement on social media about the game indicates that he’s somewhat rattled by the final moments of that game.
The 29-year-old was beside himself as he trogged off the pitch and was consoled by the likes of Petr Cech and Matteo Guendouzi.
Missing a penalty has happened to the best of them.
