Anti-Wenger protest staged outside the Emirates…
Arsenal fans took to the streets to protest against Arsene Wenger ahead of the Champions League second-leg tie against Bayern Munich in which the German giants laid on the pain.
After being humiliated 5-1 at the Allianz Arena in the first leg in quite unbelievable fashion, the Bundesliga champions repeated the same scoreline at the Emirates Stadium.
The 10-2 aggregate defeat is officially the second heaviest loss in Champions League knockout history, a record which shouldn’t be held by a club of our stature.
With Wenger’s contract up in the summer, while the board insist that a decision on his future is largely dependent on him, fans have felt compelled to take matters into their own hands.
Ivan Gazidis infamously claimed that Wenger is ultimately accountable to the fans, and a breakdown in relations between the boss and supporters will force the board to act.
“Arsene Wenger, you’re killing our club”, was the chant that rang around those that gathered to protest – a rather extreme grievance.
Do you agree with fans taking such actions with the aim of sending a message to the board, or do you feel that protesting against a manager is never a good idea?
