Arsenal fans almost came to blows after a group of supporters unfurled a banner calling for Arsene Wenger to step down as manager following our humiliating defeat to Bayern Munich.
Fresh from being handed a brutal 5-1 defeat at the Allianz Arena last month in arguably our worst European performance to date, Bayern have been allowed to mirror that scoreline at the Emirates Stadium.
We have now lost to Bayern 5-1 on three consecutive occasions, which has left fans baffled as to the direction the club is heading in.
The mood among fans is toxic at the moment, which has only been exacerbated by the lack of clarity surrounding Arsene Wenger’s future.
The boss, as it stands, will end his 21-year reign this summer since he’s out of contract, and some fans are determined to force the club into not handing him an extension.
Two fans unfurled the famous banner which reads ‘Arsene, thanks for the memories but it’s time to say goodbye’. They were met with mass hostility from a section of fans which demonstrates the toxic nature in the stands.
It’s hard to see when fans will unite. Check out the incident in the video above.
