Martin Odegaard nearing a return for Arsenal…
Mikel Arteta is set to be handed a triple injury boost as Martin Odegaard nears a return to full training, while Gabriel and Jurrien Timber look to have suffered minor knocks against Liverpool, the Daily Mail reports.
Gabriel hobbled off shortly after half-time in Sunday’s 2-2 draw after taking a blow to the knee which worried fans as the injuries started to mount in the defence.
The Brazilian’s absence was further compounded by Timber’s muscular problem with the Dutch international unable to continue having come into the game as a major doubt.
The clash at the Emirates Stadium was Timber’s first game since the Paris St-Germain clash earlier this month where he limped off at half-time.
However, according to the Mail’s Sami Mokbel, both of the aforementioned defenders’ injuries are not thought to be serious and they could be in contention for our next Premier League game at St James’s Park.
While the report claims a scan is needed to provide a clearer picture, one suspects both players will be given the night off for our midweek Carabao Cup tie at Preston.

Elsewhere, it’s reported that Odegaard is also nearing full match fitness and will return to the training pitch this week as he recovers from an ankle ligament injury.
The 25-year-old has been sidelined since he rolled his ankle while playing for Norway in September, with Arteta admitting that he hopes to have him back before the international break.
It remains to be seen how the playmaker responds to putting his ankle under more strain as he trains on the grass and makes contact with a football.
Barring any setback, it will be interesting to see if Arteta throws him straight in or hold his skipper back until after the international break.
