Alan Smith humbles Alfie Haaland…

Former Arsenal striker Alan Smith hit back at Alfie Haaland after the former Manchester City player took to social media to jab at the Gunners following our 5-1 thrashing of the champions.

Alfie’s son Erling was at the centre of the heated clash at the Emirates Stadium due to his antics in the reverse fixture at the Etihad in September.

The Norwegian striker threw the ball at the back of Gabriel’s head following his team’s last-minute equaliser against 10-men before telling Mikel Arteta to “stay humble, eh!”

The culmination of those emotions rose to the fore at the Emirates Stadium last week and Haaland was bashed from pillar to post by the likes of Gabriel and Myles Lewis-Skelly.

After the full-time whistle went and Arsenal posted their usual celebratory post on social media, Haaland’s daddy thought it was time to come to his son’s defence.

Given the lack of vocal Arsenal voices in the mainstream media, it was a surprise to see former Gunners striker Alan Smith come to the club’s defence.

“Haaland’s dad had a little chip, didn’t he?” Smith said on the Seaman Says podcast.

“Saying, ‘oh, yeah, all those trophies you’ve won,’ or something like that. I thought, ‘oh, leave it’. It’s just funny! “By the way, Alf-Inge, you didn’t win much! Back in your box.

“You can’t live your life through your son, you know. It was a great moment, wasn’t it? Those kinds of things are great.”

Alfie Haaland coming to his son’s defence on social media isn’t a good look and confirms the theory that Erling is a nepotism baby who came from a privileged life and had his career mapped out for him by his millionaire father.

The 24-year-old striker’s antics in September, coupled with a cringe announcement for his contract where he ‘warned Premier League defenders, has seen him attempt to build an aura he’s isn’t built to carry.
