Ian Wright feels the league is out of Arsenal’s reach…

Arsenal legend Ian Wright believes that getting back into the Champions League next season should be Arsene Wenger’s main target with a title challenge out of our reach this season.

Arsene Wenger guided the team to fifth last campaign, meaning we missed out on Europe’s elite club competition for the first time during his reign.

We’ll be competingĀ in the Europa League this season, a tournament which has hindered Premier League clubs in the past and seriously affected their league form.

While Wenger cannot really afford to fail to sustain a title challenge given the sensitive mood among the fan base, though it’s a reality Wrighty has come to expect.

“I think they’re challenging to get back in the top four, and then I think they have to take what they can get from there,” the legendary striker said on Sky Sports’ debate show.

“I think the Europa is vitally important because it might be tough for Arsenal to get back in the top four depending on how it goes.

“They are more than good enough to beat the teams, it’s the main teams that they normally have problems with.”

I don’t think Wenger can afford yet another failed title challenge, regardless of the visible excuse of playing in the Europa League this season.

No Premier League team has finished higher than third while taking part in that competition, but it’s up to the boss to produce a sensible balancing act.

Judging by his recent comments, it seems he’ll completely disregard the competition and focus on the league because that’s where the club’s future lies.
