Adrian Clarke reveals Arsene Wenger’s Mbappé tactics…
Former Arsenal midfielder Adrian Clarke has revealed that Arsene Wenger is trying “every trick in the book” to sign Kylian Mbappé.
Mbappé is the name on everyone’s lips this summer after a sensational campaign with Monaco in which he scored 26 goals in all competitions.
The 18-year-old carried the French side to the Ligue 1 title ahead of Paris Saint-Germain, and also reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Under pressure to produce this transfer window following our most disappointing season in decades, it seems Wenger is looking to pull off a major coup.
According to earlier reports, we had a €100million rejected for Mbappé with the likes of Real Madrid and PSG also hovering.
However, according to Clarke, Wenger is doing all he can to land the teenage sensation, including befriending his family.
“Mbappé is Henry reincarnated, there no doubt about it,” Clarke said on the Football Writers Podcast.
“He’s desperately trying to (pull the deal off). He’s, by all accounts, trying every trick in the book, he’s befriending the family, he’s in there,” Clarke said about Wenger’s efforts to sign Mbappé.
“For Mbappé, there is an argument to suggest that it might be the right stepping stone move.”
Regardless of how hard Wenger is pushing, it doesn’t seem like we’re a viable option for the teenage sensation.
Wenger has publically revealed that he was at Mbappé house last summer in a bid to convince him to join and failed, so I’m not sure why it’ll work this time around.
Just focus on Alexandre Lacazette, Arsene.
