Arsenal starlet Alex Iwobi looks set to extend his stay at Arsenal with reports suggesting he’s agreed a new long-term contract at the club, the Mirror reports.

Iwobi was recently linked with a move away from the club this summer with Lazio the apparent destination and given his extended holiday following the World Cup, we’re yet to see how he features in Emery’s plans.

He didn’t have the best of times in Russia, being dropped after the first game in a crushing defeat to eventual finalists Croatia. Iwobi also lost his place in the Arsenal team last season and has come under intense criticism from our fans.

Given that Emery has a limited budget and may need to sell some players in order to raise funds for further signings, Iwobi looked like he’d fall victim to the circumstances.

According to the Mirror, Iwobi’s new deal will see him tied to the club until 2022 and he joins an extended list of players to sign new contracts in 2018.

Fellow midfielders Granit Xhaka, Mesut Ozil, Mohamed Elneny and Ainsley Maitland-Niles have all secured their long-term futures at Arsenal. Robert Holding and Calum Chambers have also followed suit.

Would you like to see Iwobi given a chance to sign under Emer?
