Arsenal star Henrikh Mkhitaryan has labelled critics who’re writing us off after just two games as “stupid” and reaffirmed his belief that our results and performances will improve, beIN SPORTS reports.

Mkhitaryan almost single-handedly drags us back into the game at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, scoring one belter and laying on another for Alex Iwobi.

In a forward line that isn’t exactly blessed with natural wide players, Mkhitaryan will become very important over the coming months to provide pace and directness in wide areas.

He did exactly that going forward, but his weaknesses were exploited going the other way with Marcos Alonso leaving him for dead to set-up Pedro’s opener.

However, the Armenian believes anybody reading into those teething problems shouldn’t really be taken notice of.

“Always, stupid people can say or criticise a team that has played one game in the league,” the 30-year-old said.

“You can criticise after one year, at the end of the season when we are going to see what we achieve. But you cannot criticise a team or players after one game, because that is not the main thing.

“You have to give time to the manager because he is new and has a new philosophy. Even the Roman Empire was not built in one year or in one month.

“We need time and we are pretty sure we are going to move forward and have a good result,” he added.

The frustration in his tone seems evident in the video above and almost resembles a player among a squad which anticipated this overreaction.

New teams need time to adjust and even Pep Guardiola’s Man City had a very difficult first season.
