Myles Lewis-Skelly has his eyes set on the first team…
Arsenal starlet Myles Lewis-Skelly is looking to break into the first-team after signing his first professional contract at the club.
Lewis-Skelly is undoubtedly one of the crown jewels at Hale End with many anticipating that we’re witnessing another wonderful journey with an academy player.
The England youth international already possesses the physical qualities to compete in the men’s game despite recently celebrating his 17th birthday.
Able to anchor the midfield or play further forward, Lewis-Skelly is currently being guided by development managers Mehmet Ali and Jack Wilshere.
“I know it will be quite tough but the next objective is to break through to the first team,” the Hale End graduate told Arsenal Player.
“I believe that my ability and mindset can really distinguish me from the rest. Hopefully, if they give me opportunities, I can take them and keep working, keep my head down, and hopefully the results can take care of themselves.”
Part of Edu’s job is to create a pathway to the first team for our younger players, especially when we have a special talent coming through.
That pathway may even need to be created by moving someone in the first team out of the squad and it will be interesting who makes way for Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri.
The aforementioned duo often train with the senior side and given how highly rated they are, it’s only a matter of time before they become regular fixtures.
“It’s so good just to learn from the players, learn their good habits and implement them into my game so I can keep developing and enjoy that environment because I like to ask questions and learn from the best. I can’t complain,” the young midfielder added.
