Ex-Arsenal youngster Mika Biereth set for Monaco move…

Arsenal are set for a slight windfall in the January transfer window as former academy star Mika Biereth finalises a move to Monaco this winter, Fabrizio Romano reports.

Former Gunners sporting director Edu ensured a sell-on clause was included in the deal that took Bieireth to Sturm Graz last summer.

The young Dane exploded into action for the Austrian side this season, scoring 14 goals across all competitions – including two in the Champions League.

That form has caught the eye of Ligue 1 giants Monaco who’ve been prolific in developing young talent in France before selling them for a huge profit. The deal to bring the 21-year-old to the south of France is reportedly in the range of €13 million – which allows for a significant sale should he continue his progress.

If our sell-on clause is in the region of 20%, that would mean we’d be in line to receive €2.6 million of pure profit from a former academy product. Considering the rumours we keep hearing about our finances, every little helps.

Biereth will reunite with his former Hale End teammate Folarin Balogun who joined Monaco for a significant fee 18 months ago, though the USA international’s time there hasn’t replicated his loan spell at Reims.
