Thomas Partey is set to return for Arsenal…

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey is set to return to full fitness this month with his return date mooted for the clash at Nottingham Forest, the Mirror reports.

Partey has been absent since October with a thigh injury which required a procedure to cure as the 30-year-old missed out on Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations squad.

The former Atletico Madrid man has had consistent problems with his right thigh since joining the club in 2020 and with the club finally seeking a long-term solution, it’s hoped that the procedure he underwent will solve the issue.

Mikel Arteta bemoaned Partey’s absence this season – as well as Jurrien Timber – claiming that the team’s “unpredictability” has suffered as a result.

Partey has travelled with the squad to Dubai for a warm-weather training camp as Arteta looks to rejuvenate a group low on confidence.

A run of one win in seven games saw us slip from first to fourth in the Premier League, while the defeat to Liverpool last week meant we crashed out of the FA Cup.

However, all is not lost this season and if we can get some important players back fit – including Partey and Oleksandr Zinchenko – we can certainly go on another strong run.

As much as some might attempt to rewrite the narrative, Arteta would always be judged this campaign on what he did in the league and the Champions League.

Both competitions are still available to us to make a strong run at in the second half of the season.
