Arsenal skipper Laurent Koscielny has admitted that the uncertainty surrounding Arsene Wenger has affected the squad and caused us to drop to fifth in the Premier League.
Wenger and the board have refused to provide clarity on the Frenchman’s future despite the fact that he’s weeks away from the end of his contract.
We were on course for a title challenge until December, before back-to-back defeats against Everton and Manchester City effectively ended our hopes of winning the league.
While the boss has previously claimed that blaming the uncertainty surrounding his future for Arsenal’s form is an “excuse”, Koscielny disagrees.
“It’s a difficult situation to not know what happens with the boss,” Koscielny told Sky Sports.
“But you are professional and need to fight for this club.
“Maybe some players don’t feel great (about Wenger uncertainty).”
Although this season will go down as a write off in terms of the league, we won’t have to wait long before the club announces what its plans are on a managerial level.
The FA Cup final has allowed the club to delay a decision, though their competence will be questioned either way given the turmoil their indecisiveness has caused this season.
