Laurent Koscielny speaks on new arrivals…

Arsenal vice-captain Laurent Koscielny believes new signings Sead Kolasinac and Alexandre Lacazette are growing confident by the day as their first pre-season schedule draws to a close.

The duo gave a glimpse of their qualities to the home fans in the Emirates Cup, with Kolasinac, in particular, impressing on his home debut against Benfica in a 5-2 rout.

Lacazette also got off the mark after being handed a start on day two against Sevilla, latched onto a cutback from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to poach home.

Koscielny believes the Emirates Cup serves as a welcoming competition for new signings, and he now expects the new arrivals to kick on this season.

“They have confidence and they’re getting more and more during the games,” the Frenchman told Arsenal Player.

“When you are a new player, when you arrive you are quiet, but after [the Emirates Cup] you will have confidence Lacazette and Sead are the same.

“Sead played well and had more confidence around his teammates, so it’s important to keep this up for the club. For Laca, the most important thing is to score. If he scores then he will have the confidence he needs to score a lot of goals.”

The tests are coming thick and fast for the new boys, with a trip to Wembley for the Community Shield looming large with both players expected to start the game.

Ivan Gazidis did state that we’d only look to bring in players who’d strengthen our first XI this summer, and, so far, the club has delivered.
