Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi has described Unai Emery’s style as one that is focused on the “little details” following our 3-2 defeat against Chelsea, The Evening Standard reports.

Despite back-to-back defeats, it remains clear that the Spanish coach has a plan and despite his little grasp of the English language, Emery has made clear what he wants from the team.

While the basic philosophy has remained in terms of what Arsene Wenger wanted, but it seems the former PSG head coach is trying to modernise our football and tighten up our team play.

For Mustafi, he appreciates the way Emery is drip-feeding the information and the importance of the little details in matches.

“He really knows what he wants to do, how he wants to play,” the German defender said.

“He’s not someone who is trying to change everything to show ‘this is my club now, my rules’.

“Most of the time it is little details, one or two metres that he wants you to move on the left and the right. It’s important because in games like today, most of the time details decide games.

“In the weeks he has been here, he has already changed a lot.”

I’m fully aware that we will improve in the coming weeks, especially as the games become less intense and more in our balance of play.

However, for Emery to fully assume the players in his philosophy, he’ll needs results – and fast.
