Laurent Koscielny has some nice words to say about Hector Bellerin…
Arsenal skipper Laurent Koscielny has reassured Hector Bellerin that the whole squad will be by his side as he attempts to make it back from one of football’s most severe injuries, Sky Sports reports.
Bellerin’s worst fears were confirmed when the club announced that he had indeed ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and will be out for six to nine months.
The Spaniard will undergo surgery on Friday and then the long road to recovery begins from an injury which doesn’t guarantee that you’ll be the same player again.
While sports science has evolved in recent years meaning that what was once a career-ending injury is now considered a slight hiccup, Bellerin still has work to do.
And, after recovering from his own serious problem with a ruptured achilles, Koscielny stated that everyone will be supporting the Bellerin as they currently are with the likes of Rob Holding and Danny Welbeck.
One of the key ingredients to mentally preparing? Koscielny suggests his fellow defender focuses on life outside of football.
“Like I said to him yesterday, put football on the side and enjoy a bit of your life with your family and friends,” the Frenchman said.
“He is starting a new chapter of his career. It will be long but he is a strong boy and I know he has the people around him to help him and be back as soon as possible and stronger than before.
“He knows all the team are here to help him because we know he will have some difficult moments during his rehab, like Rob [Holding] and Danny [Welbeck], but they know all the team are here and behind them to help them come back with us and help us to have results together.”
For a team heavily reliant on our full-backs to provide width, we’ll miss Bellerin severely.
