Oxlade-Chamberlain not thinking about his future…
Arsenal star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain refused to be drawn on speculation surrounding his future and instead reaffirmed that his focus was solely on the FA Cup final.
The Ox, just like Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, has just over 12 months left on his current deal with no hint of an imminent extension heading into the summer.
While we’re still unsure as to who the manager will be, it’s only natural for that uncertainty to filter through to the playing staff and all discussions have been put on hold until the summer.
“I’m not here to talk about my future at all, I’m here to talk about the FA Cup final,” The 23-year-old made clear.
“It’s nothing to do with the final so I won’t be talking about that today.”
It’s quite an unusual situation we find ourselves in as a club in terms of Oxlade-Chamberlain’s situation. Had this been 12 months ago, I think many fans could live with us letting him go.
However, in what has been a damaging past few months for the club, the former Saints man has been one of the shining lights, further highlighted by being voted Player of the Month for April by the fans.
The Ox is also one a few players who really understands the privilege of playing for such a great club and it’s imperative that we keep that type of energy around the club.
