Arsenal pulled off an impressive comeback against Aston Villa from 2-1 down with 10-men as Calum Chambers and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang added to Nicolas Pepe’s initial equaliser.
We started off poorly at the Emirates, almost picking up exactly where we left off last week at Vicarage Road in one of our worst performances under Unai Emery.
The visitors took the lead through John McGinn midway through the first half due to some slack defending from Matteo Guendouzi and David Luiz.
Our task was further compounded by referee John Moss’ decision to hand Ainsley Maitland-Niles a second yellow for a rash challenge, leaving us entering the break a goal and a man down.
Chambers replaced Saka during the interval and Emery went with a diamond in midfield to support lone forward Aubameyang.
Pepe netted the equaliser before Villa took the lead again through Wesley to give us a real mountain to climb.
Unai Emery’s double substitution 20 minutes from time will go down as a pivotal moment with Granit Xhaka and Dani Ceballos being replaced by Joe Willock and Lucas Torreira.
Given the man advantage the visitors had, we needed all the legs we could assemble and the aforementioned duo covered a huge amount of ground to tip the play in our favour.
Two goals in the final 10 minutes of the game from Chambers and Aubameyang handed us a crucial three points and push us into the top four.

The victory was rewarding given the circumstances, but it does nothing to calm our long-term fears as to what this team is attempting to do.
We concede too many chances and our attacking play is far from fluid – we defy all ‘XG’ logic.
