Looking to get back to winning ways, we stumbled over the line against Huddersfield on Saturday to clinch our first three points away from home in the Premier League since November.

Goals from Alex Iwobi and Alexandre Lacazette saw us head into the break leading by two or more goals for the first time since our 3-1 win at Watford in 2016.

Having said that, the performance against the Terriers left little to be desired as the hosts dominated possession throughout the game and had more attempts at goal.

Despite failing to score in over nine hours of football, a Sead Kolasinac own-goal at the death gave them a glimmer of hope with a Bernd Leno save in the 94th minute handing us all three points.

In the race for fourth place, while results are now of paramount of importance, we certainly can’t expect to win games against better opposition if we’re struggling against the Premier League’s whipping boys.

We did have a number of players missing for the trip to Huddersfield, with the likes of Mesut Ozil, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Aaron Ramsey and Granit Xhaka carrying various ailments which caused them to miss out.

Nevertheless, we still possessed enough quality to win the game comfortably and if Unai Emery is to completely win over the fans, playing that brand of football is going to do it.

After the game, our players took to social media to give their reaction to the narrow win, though you get the sense that they felt the performance wasn’t good enough.

Indeed, Lacazette made it a point to mention the display and that improvements are required.
