Emile Smith Rowe is back as Arsenal look to continue form…

Arsenal received a boost ahead of the visit of Leicester City on Sunday as Emile Smith Rowe rejoined full training after a bout of Covid-19.

The 21-year-old has been in and out of the squad in recent weeks due to illness and a niggling injury, and Mikel Arteta has stressed the need to have the England international available on a more regular basis.

Smith Rowe is our leading goalscorer this season despite playing predominantly on the left, realising the prolific potential he showed coming through the ranks in the academy.

With the team lacking a recognised goalscorer following the departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, goals from other areas have never been more crucial.

Smith Rowe’s return does now pose a selection dilemma for Arteta who has to choose between the No.10 and Gabriel Martinelli for that left-wing berth.

Martinelli, though he returned on the scoresheet at Watford, has found himself on the periphery of games and with Arteta seeking more control, Smith Rowe may get the nod.

Also, given that we’re playing at home against a struggling Leicester City side, Smith Rowe’s guile and creativity will be needed to break them down.

Elsewhere, the rest of the squad seemed to be in good spirits, with Takehiro Tomiyasu the only absentee as he continues to recover from a calf injury.
