Arsenal training: Mikel Arteta switched up the scenery…

Fans were left with questions after the club released images showing Mikel Arteta putting the squad through their paces at the Emirates Stadium instead of London Colney ahead of our next Premier League fixture.

The team have an extended break this weekend due to our FA Cup exit at the hands of Liverpool earlier this month, leading to the boss deciding to change the scenery for our training session.

According to reporter Charles Watts, Arteta has a habit of changing the location for training to keep the players engaged and as far Watts is aware, the players “like it” training at the Emirates Stadium.

It’s the first time we’ve seen Arteta take the squad to ‘The Carpet’ for a session this season, though we have seen him do this on plenty of occasions in the past – often on the day before a game.

Our hectic schedule so far this season hasn’t allowed him much opportunity to replicate that, though January has been a lighter workload for the players.

Thomas Partey was once again in the thick of the action in terms of the training material released as he looks to be included in the squad for the first time since October.

Arteta takes his squad to the City Ground on Tuesday looking to end his horrendous run at that venue – losing our last two fixtures there in all competitions.

It was the scene of our official title collapse in May – something I’d suspect the players want to put right.
