German expert Raphael Honigstein has claimed that the Arsenal hierarchy are actively searching for a new manager, but their efforts are being compromised by Arsene Wenger’s delay in making his decision.
The board find themselves in an uncomfortable position as they don’t want to give off the impression that they’re pushing Wenger out of the door, hence why Honigstein says talks are taking place through intermediaries.
The German expert believes Dortmund’s Thomas Tuchel and Max Allegri are high on the list, but talks can only go so far until Wenger clarifies his future.
“Arsenal are being a little bit more shrewd than usual,” Honigstein said on ESPN FC.
“They have got some ideas of who’d they approach if Wenger was to go, but that big ‘if’ actually holds everything back.”
If Wenger is to be believed, we won’t have to wait too long for him to make an announcement as he’s publically claimed that he would make a decision in March or April.
Hopefully, the groundwork being done by the club will stand us in good stead for the future.
Check out the video above as Honigstein and Gabriel Marcotti discuss Wenger’s possible replacements.
