ArsenalFanTV’s Robbie discusses relationship with the club…
ArsenalFanTV has grown considerably over the past few years and while that particular fact has delighted the founder Robbie, he spoke on how the club’s relationship with the channel is quite frosty.
Given that Robbie broadcasts the sometimes excessive reactions from fans which in turn puts further pressure on Arsene Wenger and the players, it’s understandable why the club may wish ArsenalFanTV didn’t exist.
However, Robbie told the Long Bal Street podcast that he has received words of encouragement from Ivan Gazidis, and also revealed that club officials have helped the channel get their equipment into some difficult away grounds.
“Ivan Gazidis said to me ‘I like what you’re doing. It’s a great platform, keep it up’,” Robbie narrated.
“The Olympiacos game when we were going in with our equipment, the Greek police were like ‘No! You can’t bring that in here.’
“It was actually an Arsenal representative that came and spoke to them.”
Robbie may complain about the lack of “access” the channel has had with the club but should see it as a blessing in disguise given that fans rely on him to be completely impartial.
A close relationship with Arsenal may see some censorship on the channel which will compirmise it’s initial aim.
Check out Robbie discussing the challenges he’s faced with ArsenalFanTV in the video above.
