Alex Iwobi calls for more respect for Arsene Wenger…

Alex Iwobi is the latest player to come to the defence of Arsene Wenger while on international duty as the midfielder implored the Arsenal fans to have more respect for the Frenchman.

Wenger has come under intense criticism after another season of disappointment looms as we trail league leaders Chelsea by 19 points.

We’ve also failed to get passed the last-16 of the Champions League for a seventh consecutive season due to a 10-2 humbling at the hands of Bayern Munich on aggregate.

However, Iwobi wants Wenger to stay and labelled the Arsenal fans as “impatient”.

“They need to have a bit more respect in my opinion,” Iwobi said.

“I mean, he’s been at the club for 20 years, he’s achieved a lot, obviously they’re a bit impatient with the results and where they want to finish.”

Describing Arsenal fans as “impatient” may well be the most inaccurate description one could possibly throw at us given how long we’ve waited for a credible title challenge.

Us fans aren’t demanding a league title, we’re demanding a significant push to challenge for the title which should be a prerequisite for the seventh biggest club in the world.

Quotes like the ones above further alienated our fans and give the impression that there’s a culture of acceptance being drilled into our youngest of players.

Check out Iwobi’s comments in the clip above and comment below whether or not we’re being impatient as a fan base?
