Arsenal have Atletico’s transfer ban for Alexandre Lacazette deal…

Arsenal’s deal for Alexandre Lacazette wouldn’t have been possible had Atletico Madrid’s transfer ban been overturned earlier this summer, that’s according to The Independent’s Ed Maylon.

According to the reporter, Atletico had a deal sewn up for the 26-year-old in the spring and had confidence that their transfer ban would get overturned – similar to neighbours Real Madrid.

However, that hope fell flat and according to Maylon, the whole market has since shifted given the domino effect a huge deal usually trickles into action.

Antoine Griezmann was said to be close to a deal to Manchester United, with his compatriot a viable replacement for Diego Simeone.

“That’s one of the biggest things that’s happened this summer, Atletico Madrid’s transfer ban not being overturned,” he said on BBC Radio 5 Live.

“Manchester United, as we know, thought they were going to get Antoine Griezmann; Atletico thought they were going to bring in Lacazette.

“Lacazette obviously doesn’t want to sit on the sidelines for a few months without playing, which is what he’d have to do if he went to Atletico.”

It seems very rare that a certain chain of events has worked in our favour for once given the scarcity of top strikers available on the market.

Our Kylian MbappĂ© move was nothing more than a pipe dream and had Lacazette not been available, we would’ve been set for a frustrating summer.

As it turns out, it seems we’re set to break our transfer record for one of Europe’s most lethal marksmen.
