Arsenal defender Ben White rates Mikel Arteta very highly…
Arsenal defender Ben White has hailed Mikel Arteta as the best man-manager he’s played under and noted the Spaniard’s special attention to detail, talkSPORT reports.
White was one of six first-team signings brought in during a hectic summer of upheaval as a response to our worst campaign in a quarter of a century.
The England international also marked our biggest outlay during a record summer spending spree, with the club shelling out £50million to bring in the former Brighton man.
The price tag, as well as his lack of experience, led to many questioning the move and whether or not Arteta was prioritising the wrong area of the squad.
White has played under a few notable managers, including Marcelo Bielsa during his successful loan spell at Leeds United.
“The detail the gaffer goes into is completely different to what I’ve come across before,” White was quoted as saying.
“The way he demands you to do stuff and the way he says stuff and the detail he goes into is really important and it’s helping me massively.
“I’ve had a few managers and I’d say his man-management is the best I’ve been under. Every player is different and needs different things, and he definitely understands that.
“He’s a top manager and it’s showing – we’re getting the results now.”
White’s importance to Arteta has been illustrated in the 24-year-old’s consistent presence in the team, starting all but one of our games in all competitions since the transfer window closed.
As we look to consolidate our position in the top four, his partnership with Gabriel will certainly be crucial to where we end up come May.
