Arsenal forward Theo Walcott gave a rather bizarre assessment of the game following our humiliating defeat to Crystal Palace on Monday night, claiming that the south London side “wanted it more” than us.
As per usual following a pathetic performance, the Arsenal PR team led by Mark Gonnella wheeled out one of our PR-savvy players for the post-match interview, and it was Theo’s turn this time.
Hector Bellerin ‘apologised’ after the humiliation against Bayern Munich while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain followed suit after the debacle at the Hawthorns last month.
After apologising to the fans, Walcott couldn’t really explain why the players didn’t turn up with the required performance in a game which was set to define our top four hopes.
“Tonight it just didn’t happen, and all we can do is apologise for that performance tonight,” The 28-year-old said.
“I think they just wanted it more, you could tell. You could sense that from the kick-off and it was an uphill battle towards the end there.”
I’m not sure Walcott realises the seriousness of those comments he uttered after such a pathetic display which was a disgrace to the quality of the Premier League in general.
How can you possibly tell that a team “wants it more” than you before the game has even kicked off? He’s basically admitting that our players were beaten before the game had even started, a clear demonstration as to why many question the mentality of this team.
Also, what on earth was said in the dressing room before kick-off if our players are coming out with such a defeatist mentality before the referee has even blown his whistle?
There are so many damaging questions to raise at Arsenal at the moment, with not a single figure at the club brave enough to hand us some answers.
