Thomas Partey reportedly looking to stay…

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey isn’t looking to move away this summer and his planning to see out the final year of his contract despite constant rumours of an exit.

Partey had another injury-ravaged campaign last term and while he started the final five games of last season’s Premier League campaign, Mikel Arteta wasn’t able to count on him.

The signing of Declan Rice last summer meant his absence wasn’t as damaging on the team as it has been in the past, though putting that load on the England man yet again could be risky,

With Kai Havertz now seen as our central striker, there is a space that needs filling in our midfield – though Partey doesn’t like he intends to depart and make room.

“From what I understand about Thomas Partey’s situation, he intends to stay for the final year of his contract. Everyone talks about Saudi Arabia – there’s been no conversations with PIF so far & no offers from any other Saudi clubs,” reporter James Benge was quoted as saying.

While’s it’s not clear if the club needs Partey to depart in order to strengthen in midfield,  one hopes that isn’t their policy ahead of the new campaign.

Arsenal were reportedly targeting moves for Ilkay Gundogan and Mason Mount in addition to the Declan Rice pursuit last summer, indicating that Arteta still hasn’t shaped his perfect midfield.

The club has been linked with a move for Euro 2024 winner Mikel Merino who has just 12 months on his deal with Real Sociedad and he looks like the profile that would compliment Rice and Gabriel Martinelli perfectly.
