Wenger’s Xhaka verdict…

Arsene Wenger confirmed that Arsenal will not appeal the red card given to Granit Xhaka in our 3-2 win against Swansea City on Saturday afternoon.

The Swiss star was given a straight red for what looked an innocuous challenge, but referee John Moss felt that the challenge cross the threshold in terms of dangerous play.

While that decision didn’t come back to haunt us, Wenger admits that it was a “deliberate foul” and so will not object.

Asked if he’ll appeal to the FA, Wenger gave a straight answer: “No.”

“It looked harsh to me, but it was a deliberate foul.”

Xhaka will now serve a three-match ban and will, therefore, be unavailable for the games against Middlesbrough, Reading, and Sunderland.

With Francis Coquelin back and Aaron Ramsey nearing a return, we’re certainly not short of central midfield options.
