Arsene Wenger confirms Alexis Sanchez’s return…
Arsene Wenger has revealed that Alexis Sanchez will return to the squad on Sunday amidst the whirlwind of speculation which surrounds the Chilean forward.
Alexis has been heavily linked with moves to Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City this summer, although neither club has placed an official bid for the player.
Wenger has remained resolute in his stance that Alexis will not be sold this summer, with the club possibly hoping that once the window closes and the football starts, the communications for a new contract may resume.
The 28-year-old hasn’t made a public statement on his future and has repeated on many occasions that since he’s under contract, what the club decides will happen.
With his holiday now drawing to a close after reaching the Confederations Cup final with Chile, Wenger is prepared to welcome Alexis back into the fold.
“Alexis and Mustafi, their first training session will be on Sunday, the day we play against Sevilla,” the boss told Arsenal Player.
“First of all, you make a really good check up of where they are, how much they have worked during their break.
“It is easier to put a striker on the bench than a defender, sometimes. Because in a short period they can make an impact. We’ll see.”
Knowing Alexis, he’ll probably be in contention in no time and has almost certainly kept in shape while on holiday over the past four weeks.
The Community Shield against Chelsea is the first fixture Alexis can be available for ahead of the opening Premier League game against Leicester City.
