Arsene Wenger has confirmed the fears many had as Francis Coquelin hobbled off the pitch at West Brom with the Frenchman ruled out for “at least two months”.

The fact that the club are still awaiting results from Coquelin’s scan suggests that the official prognosis may well be slightly longer than Wenger’s early assessment.

Arsenal fans around the globe recognised that we were struggling for cover in the holding midfield position, but Wenger stated that we have the strength inside the squad to deal with Coquelin’s absence.

Can we rely on Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini or does Wenger have to delve into the transfer market in January?
