Wenger endorses Gareth Southgate…
Arsene Wenger seems to have ruled himself out of the England job after stating that the position should be handed to an Englishman, and even endorsed Gareth Southgate for the role.
The England U21 boss has been put in caretaker charge of the senior team following Sam Allardyce’s abrupt departure due to his extra-curricular activities.
Wenger has been constantly linked with the England job and is clearly the FA’s desired choice, but the Frenchman doesn’t seem keen.
“I think he has the intelligence, the knowledge, and he has now been at the federation for quite a long time,” Wenger told beIN SPORTS.
Wenger’s Arsenal future is also far from certain given that he’s out of contract this summer with no sign of an extension in sight as of now.
The Arsenal boss’ full take on the England position can be seen in the video above.
