Arsene Wenger was given a tremendous welcome as he took to the dugout for the final time at the Emirates Stadium as Arsenal manager against Burnley.
The hosts joined in the pre-match festivities with a guard of honour for the Frenchman as he prepares to depart his post following a 22-year reign.
Wenger suddenly announced last month that he’s set to walk away from the club of his life, and break a contract for the first time in his career.
The calls for the boss to walk from all sections were deafening last season following another title collapse and Champions League humiliation, but Wenger decided to extend his contract after winning the FA Cup.
Despite that, you always felt the anger was simmering below the surface and the three-time Premier League winner has certainly made the right decision to remove himself from the firing line.
It’s also allowed the boss to feel loved again, with the football world uniting to show Wenger how much he’s appreciated in the game.
Ahead of what was an emotional day at the Emirates Stadium, Wenger received the welcome he deserved.
