Arsene Wenger: Our Midfield Is Complete Following Xhaka’s Arrival

Arsene Wenger waxes lyrical on his only summer signing so far…

Arsene Wenger is very happy with the options he now has at his disposal in midfield following the arrival of Granit Xhaka this summer.

Wenger identified our weakness in midfield last season given our inability to cope with the number of injuries we had at one time, which eventually derailed our season.

After adding Mohamed Elneny in January, we now have significant depth and power in midfield and Wenger is clearly delighted.

“Numbers wise, we are quite solid in midfield now,” Wenger told Arsenal Player.

It’s also worth noting that Wenger immediately cites Xhaka’s passing ability when asked to name his quality, something we lack desperately from deep positions.
