Arsene Wenger: Oxlade-Chamberlain Now Feels Like He “Deserves” To Score

Wenger’s Oxlade-Chamberlain praise…

Arsene Wenger hailed Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s new-found belief in front of goal after the 23-year-old bagged a brace in our 2-0 win against Reading.

We booked a place in the quarter-finals of the EFL cup and Wenger was quizzed on The Ox’s form after his reached his highest tally in any single campaign since joining Arsenal in 2011.

The boss claimed that the England forward felt within himself at times in front of goal, but now seems to be following in the footsteps of Theo Walcott when bearing down on goal.

“Before you felt like he acted in front of goal like he didn’t deserve to score,” Wenger said in his post-match press conference.

“Now you have hope every time he has the ball that something can happen. He is following Walcott on the same way.”

Having started our last Champions League game against Ludogarets as well as making a significant impact upon his introduction on Saturday, Oxlade-Chamberlain is certainly sending a message to our wide players.

Goals will certainly catapult the former Southampton star’s chances of getting into the team, but he must also learn to integrate into our team play.

Alex Iwobi has got the nod ahead of him for exactly that.
