Arsene Wenger will not become the new manager of Qatar ahead of the 2022 World Cup despite reports claiming that a deal was imminent, beIN SPORTS reports.

Wenger has been out of work for six months now and recently claimed that he’d be in a new job in January, though he didn’t specify where.

The Frenchman has an affinity with Qatar given that he’s been in business with beIN SPORTS for a number of years and even encouraged owner Nasser Al Khelaifi to invest in Paris Saint-Germain.

It’s that relationship which linked Wenger with the PSG job for a number of years irrespective of the absence of solid evidence.

BeIN SPORTS report Matt Spiro stated that his sources insisted that reports linking Wenger to Qatar were ‘wide of the mark’ despite our former manager admitting to being intrigued by a national team job.

Aside from the sporting aspect, many claimed they would’ve felt disappointed had Wenger accepted the role given his unshakeable ethical beliefs.

Qatar have been accused of many human rights violence particularly in accordance with South-East Asian workers who’ve lost their lives preparing the nation for the World Cup in 2022 under intense conditions.

Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see where Wenger ends up next.
