Arsene Wenger recorded his 700th win as Arsenal boss…
Arsene Wenger celebrated his 700th as Gunners boss after our 6-0 win against BATE Borisov as we finished our Europa League group stage campaign on a high.
Goals from Mathieu Debuchy, Theo Walcott, Jack Wilshere, Mo Elneny, Olivier Giroud and an own goal put the Belarusan side away in front of a record-low Emirates crowd.
There are a number of records Wenger is scheduled to break this season, the main one being the manager with the most Premier League games in history ahead of Sir Alex Ferguson, who retired in 2013.
It celebrates his longevity and commitment to the cause, though it’ll do very little to dispel the naysayers who believe that he’s past his best.
On the impressive milestone, Wenger told BT Sport: “Well, you know, it’s luck and…work as well, a little bit.
“I think I didn’t miss a game since I’m here so that’s where you need to be lucky to be healthy and be available for every single game.”
Wenger is having to manage a certain malaise around the club, with many fans disillusioned as to where we’re heading as a football club.
After being handed a two-year contract on the basis of getting us back to challenging for the league, what’s happened since then has been rather farcical.
Uncertainty remains regarding a number of first-team stars and come the summer, Wenger will once again enter the final year of his deal once again.
