Arsene Wenger clarifies the  Alexis Sanchez situation…

Arsene Wenger has responded to Alexis Sanchez’s recent Instagram post in which he seemingly clouded doubt over his return to training which was previously scheduled for Sunday.

The Chilean has been the subject of much speculation all summer given his refusal to extend his contract, which expires in less than 12 months.

However, Wenger has been adamant that Alexis will not be sold this summer, with the club viewing him as a more valuable assest than the potential £50million we would receive.

After stating that he expected Alexis to return to pre-season on Sunday, the 28-year-old put up an Instagram post claiming to be sick, leading many to speculate whether this was the start of a rebellious approach.

Wenger isn’t of that opinion and revealed that he’s spoken to Alexis who is under the whether, and now expects him back on Tuesday once he’s physically able to travel.

“I had him on text yesterday, he will come back as soon as possible,” Wenger told reporters after our 5-2 win against Benfica in the Emirates Cup.

“We were in touch with him and his doctor. There is no basic problem.

“He comes back on Tuesday. Our job is to be suspicious. Your job is built on mistrust and my job is built on trust.”

The boss also reiterated that Alexis will stay, and one hopes that the faith placed in him by the boss doesn’t become futile.

During his tenure, Wenger has very rarely seen players disrespect his orders to the point that they’ve gone on strike to force a move, and I don’t expect that to be the case with Alexis.
