Arsene Wenger Responds To Roy Keane’s Jack Wilshere Criticism

By The Editor

Arsene Wenger has rightfully come to the defence of Jack Wilshere…

Arsene Wenger has come to the defence of Jack Wilshere after he was subjected to some heavy criticism by Roy Keane who labelled the England man the “most overrated player on the planet.”

After our defeat to Swedish minnows Ostersunds FK, the knives were out for the Arsenal players who played on the night and put in a torrid display.

The visitors raced into a two-goal lead to catch us cold, though a second-half effort from Sead Kolasinac settled the onslaught.

Despite that, many have lasered on the performance of the players and have wondered how they can get away with such a showing.

Keane, though, decided to focus on our leadership and claimed the defeat can be defined by Arsenal having to deploy Wilshere as the leader.

“It’s very difficult. I personally rate Jack very highly, after that you can have opinions,” Wenger told reporters ahead of the Wembley showpiece.

“Jack was in a team last night that didn’t perform well. Was it one of his best performances last night? Certainly not. But Roy Keane knows that can happen to everybody.”

Wilshere has been our most consistent player alongside Monreal since he returned to team late last year, and it’s been a joy to watch.

He’s one of the only players who constantly shows courage and accepts the ball when things aren’t going well – a player deserves the armband.
