Arsene Wenger Reveals He Was Forced To Announce Gunners Exit

Arsene Wenger revealed the timing of his decision was forced upon him…

Arsene Wenger dropped a bombshell in his pre-match press conference on Wednesday ahead of our Europa League semi-final first-leg clash against Atletico Madrid as he insinuated that the decision to announce his exit wasn’t entirely his.

Wenger announced his decision to leave his club of 22-years on Friday despite having a year remaining on his current contract and repeatedly stressing that he always respects his contracts.

The statement released on the club’s website indicated that this was a mutual decision, though many are not buying that given that Wenger previously showed no desire to leave before the end of his contract.

And, while Wenger maintains this was his decision, he did reveal that the timing of the announcement was made above his head.

When asked why the decision came before a European semi-final which will define our season, Wenger said: “The timing was not really my decision. For the rest, I’ve spoken about it already.”

If we’re to focus on the targets ahead, we really need Wenger to avoid feeding the vultures lines that will give them a story.

He’s leaving, it’s time to leave the semantics alone.
