Arsene Wenger has revealed that he’s targeting a maximum of three summer signings this window as he looks to build a side capable of winning the league.
After extending his contract by another two years despite calls from fans to step down, Wenger isn’t promising a massive turnover of players this summer.
Many feel Wenger is compelled to make huge investments in the transfer window to keep fans onside ahead of the new campaign, though it seems the boss is sticking to his guns.
Wenger has always felt that adding more than three players in one window can disrupt the harmony within the squad.
When asked how many players he’s looking to bring in, the Frenchman replied: “Between…I would maximum three.”
Three is the magic number when the boss predicts our summer business, but he seldom sticks to a single figure.
Given the nature of the market and how players may become available that are too good to pass on, one can very rarely put a number on how many signings we’ll make.
Wenger brought in four first-team players last summer, and my guess would be that we’ll probably see something similar this time around.
Check out his thoughts on what consists of a big buy, as well as his summer transfer plans.
