Arsenal Football Club has announced that Arsene Wenger has signed a two-year extension to his current deal to extend his 21-year stay at Arsenal.
After much speculation throughout the season, the boss has finally committed his future to the club ahead of what will be a crucial summer.
Despite finishing outside the top four and failing to sustain a credible league challenge, an FA Cup win in May seems to have given Wenger license to extend his reign.
There have been monumental calls from fans for Wenger to step down, yet the boss had a message for the supporters after clarifying his future.
“Let’s be together, to support our players,” was Wenger’s message to the fans.
“We want to keep the strength we have and we’ll work hard to find additions of top quality.”
When asked if the boss was expecting changes to the non-playing staff, Wenger didn’t rule out the additions of some senior figures.
“We want always to be better, we live in a very competitive world.
“We want to perform better in every department.”
So there we have it, nothing changes – at least at managerial level.
For all the other promises, which we’ve heard umpteen times before, we’ll wait for the club to show tangible proof.
