Arsene Wenger looking to cut out defensive frailties from set-pieces…

Arsene Wenger has vowed to correct the defensive lapses from corners through intense work in training after our horrendous defending from dead-ball situations handed Leicester City two soft goals.

Shinji Okazaki and Jamie Vardy were the beneficiaries from such lacklustre defending, with many of the defensive department at fault in their organisational play.

It required a monumental offensive effort for us to win the game, as Wenger sent on Olivier Giroud and Aaron Ramsey to win the game.

Contrary to public perception, we’ve had a decent record in terms of goals conceded from corners in recent years, and Wenger wants to return to that habit.

“On the first goal was after a corner we were surprised a little bit by their short combination,” Wenger explained to Arsenal Player.

“The second goal was in the build up we lost the ball in our half, that can happen. And on the third goal, a corner again.

“We were quite solid last year on the corners defensively, and I’m convinced we can correct that with good work in training.”

Wenger has a week to prepare for the team before yet another aerial test at the Bet365 Stadium when we visit Stoke City, a ground we’ve traditionally struggled at.

However, we did hand them a thumping at the back-end of last season, though Mark Hughes’ men will be looking to prove that they were already on the beach when that clash took place.

Check out Wenger’s assessment of the game in the video above.
