David Ornstein on Thomas Lemar…
Arsenal’s transfer Oracle David Ornstein of the BBC gave an update on our transfer dealings from Wimbledon, clarifying that we’re still very much after Monaco’s Thomas Lemar.
The French side have witnessed a number of top clubs come in for their star players who shot to prominence last season after an outstanding campaign.
Leonardo Jardim’s side won Ligue 1 in impressive fashion and also reached the Champions League semi-final, scoring the most goals ahead of any team in Europe’s top five leagues.
However, the powerhouses in European football have circled and the likes of Bernardo Silva have already left, with Benjamin Mendy and Tiemoue Bakayoko seeming nearing exits.
Ornstein reports that Monaco may be reluctant to lose yet another star in Lemar, and that his arrival could be swayed by what happens with regards to the futures of Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud.
“The club are still interested in signing Thomas Lemar, the Monaco winger,” Ornstein told the Football Gossip programme.
“It may be dependent on who else leaves Monaco with Bakayoko coming in at Chelsea and Mendy possibly at Manchester City but Arsenal are still in the hunt for Thomas Lemar.”
Check out his update in the video above and comment below on if you feel Lemar will arrive and where best to fit him in.
