Bukayo Saka becoming an influential figure at St George’s Park…
Arsenal star Bukayo Saka is becoming an influential figure within the England set-up and has reportedly been promoted to the team’s five-man leadership group, the Mirror reports.
Saka has now been selected for three major tournaments for the Three Lions and played a significant part in Gareth Southgate’s side reaching back-to-back European Championship finals.
Also, after claiming the award for England’s Player of the Year in 2022 and 2023, Saka has become one of the most crucial clogs in the team.
Still shy of his 23rd birthday, the Arsenal man’s importance has now been demonstrated in the form of Saka being ushered into the team’s leadership group.
The group also consists of Harry Kane, Kyle Walker, Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham with Saka seen as the bridge between the young players coming into the squad and the established stars.
Should Saka also find himself on the pitch without the aforementioned quartet, the Hale End graduate will also don the armband.
England are currently going through a transition period following the departure of Gareth Southgate and with Lee Carsley taking the reigns on an interim basis, having a stable ‘leadership group’ will make for a smooth transition.
