Bukayo Saka sums up his day with the armband…

Arsenal star Bukayo Saka was gleaming as he reflected on his first game as Gunners skipper with the ‘Starboy’ leading the team out in our 5-0 win against Sheffield United, Arsenal Media reports.

Saka ended the game with the armband last weekend during the draw at Stamford Bridge after Gabriel Jesus and Martin Odegaard were withdrawn.

The aforementioned duo were absent once again due to various reasons, and Saka was once again handed the captaincy by Mikel Arteta.

Arteta has often chosen a ‘leadership group’ at the start of each campaign, though who that consists of isn’t revealed to the public and only becomes apparent by the hierarchy in terms of who wears the armband.

It looks like Saka is now third in the pecking order, and it signifies his status among the group as he establishes himself as one of the best players in the world.

“I don’t really know how to describe it,” the 22-year-old was quoted as saying.

“You know me and you know where I’ve come from: the academy. To be at the front, leading the boys out today was just unbelievable. I’m lost for words – it’s hard to describe this feeling. It’s just amazing.

“I enjoyed it,” Saka added when asked about the extra matchday commitments for the captain.

“It was a different experience. Obviously, I was learning on the job. Sometimes I didn’t know where I was supposed to be! But in the end, we played well, which was the most important thing. We got the three points.”

While some continue to speak about Saka’s ‘slow start’, the England star is already into double figures for goal contributions in the Premier League.

Saka does notoriously grow as the campaign unfolds, and one can’t wait for him to hit his peak fitness and form.
