Bukayo Saka misses his fellow Hale Enders…

Arsenal star Bukyao Saka has admitted that it was sad to see his fellow Hale Enders leave the club this summer as Emile Smith Rowe, Eddie Nketiah and Reiss Nelson sought pastures new, Men In Blazers reports.

Mikel Arteta and Edu went through a squad-balancing exercise during the transfer window as the club attempted to create a group of players the manager fully trusts.

The Spaniard admitted that he needs to get better at spreading minutes across the squad, and that can only happen if believes in the options available to him.

So, given how little football the aforementioned trio played last season coupled with their value in the marketplace, it was inevitable that we would receive huge offers for them.

Also, considering the current climate surrounding Profit and Sustainability rules, recouping huge fees for academy graduates helps the accounting books.

“I’m not gonna lie, I miss them a bit,” Saka said.

“Since I came into the first team they were kinda like my big brothers, the way they welcomed me.

“It wasn’t easy to see them all go, but at the same time I’m really happy for them because they’re three top, top players with so much quality and I’m definitely sure they’re gonna shine in the Premier League this year.”

Despite his sadness at the situation, Saka understands that this was a natural part of the process as Arteta attempts to build a squad capable of challenging on all fronts and rivalling Manchester City.

“I think the manager is doing his best to build a squad to prepare us to win trophies. That’s probably the evolution – the best way to describe it.”

Having a strong academy presence is a huge part of the club’s DNA and while we lost some Hale Enders this summer, the club are now beginning to integrate the next batch.

With the likes of Ethan Nwaneri, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ayden Heaven around the first team, it’s now time for Saka to become the big brother in the group.
